However, a tweet was sent on July 3rd. It didn't really provide much info in the tweet without clicking on the link. It then brought you to the HDSB website and details of the 'altered' Motion. Wait, what? How? Why? The Pineland community was on summer break!! How were they informed of this switch? How were the tax payers notified of this?

Subject: Boundary Review 2014
Date: September 12, 2014 at 5:04:01 PM EDT
As you may be aware, the Halton District School Board approved a Boundary Review for ERA 103 to address English programming pressures at Pineland Public School effective 2015 -2016 school year. The boundary review, referred to as Elementary Review Area (ERA) 103, originally involved Pineland PS, Mohawk Gardens PS, and Frontenac PS. Following this boundary review, recommendations came to the Board on June 18. In considering these recommendations, trustees debated the scope of the original review, citing the need to increase representation on the committee to include Student Services staff and trustees from adjacent areas.
At the July 2nd Board meeting, trustees passed a motion requesting that the Director reconstitute the Pineland Boundary Review Steering Committee (BRSC), including representatives from Student Services, and with the trustees for ERA 102 and ERA 11. The BRSC was asked to review the scenarios developed and report recommendations to the Board no later than October 2014.
The Steering committee has now concluded their work and the Director of Education will share his recommendation(s) at the Board meeting on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. This report is published as part of the September 17 Board meeting agenda package. The agenda is posted on the Halton District School Board website (http://www.hdsb.ca), under the section entitled Boardroom & Trustees and linked under the “Board Agendas & Minutes” subsection.
Those wishing to delegate the Board on this matter must follow the Board By-laws on delegations, as posted on the Halton District School Board website under the section entitled Boardroom & Trustees and linked under the “Delegating the Board” subsection.
Trustees are expected to make a decision concerning this report at the Board meeting scheduled for Wednesday, October 1. Immediately following, all affected schools and students will be informed of any school boundary or program changes, which will be effective September 2015.

Below are the tweets from HDSB -- in no way have they indicated to the greater community (e.g. the tax payers) or the 6,653 Twitter followers they have, that they intend to remove programming from this neighbourhood. This neighbourhood already lost its original walk-to school, W.E. Breckon in 2003, and now our school board wants to kick them again and take away their second walk-to school! No notification of this underhanded plan kept the community in the dark and vulnerable. If there is no knowledge, they cannot galvanize.
Oddly enough, they did tweet about a Burlington Post article that mentions Pineland is one of the last schools to implement FDK...while simultaneously (and quietly) recommending to remove it and turn the school into an exclusive single track FI school.
A school board is a body that operates the province’s publicly funded schools. The school board is governed by its publicly elected board members (trustees).
A school board is: not:
- interested only in the opinions of families with children. A school board must recognize that all of society has a stake in public education.
